Project Description: The works consist of the replacement of the existing Sea Water pre-treatment plant currently serving the existing Marine Research Institute Building (NUIG) and the Cod Fish Hatchery at Carna, Co Galway.
The works will comprise of the replacement of the existing filtration system with a drum filter, operating at 20 microns on a raised galvanised steel gantry. 2 no proprietary GRP storage tanks of 20m³ on concrete bases. 2 No. ISO steel containers on a raised concrete plinth housing the distribution pumps, the UV disinfection plant to treat the water to to provide a minimum dose of 600J/m2 at end of lamp life. The works will also include the treatment of the existing effluent from the existing Cod Hatchery building comprising a new drum filter for particulate filtration and then to a new UV unit for biological disinfection before discharge to the sea.
